Careers

Become a Declutter and Hoarding Support Worker

Help people take back their homes, one decision at a time. Online sessions Australia-wide, and in-person support in selected areas. Flexible hours, full training.

The work

This isn’t styling. It’s support.

Our clients live with heavy clutter through to severe hoarding, Levels I to V. Many feel ashamed or overwhelmed, and some have been let down before. Your job is to help them make decisions and keep going, not to make the decisions for them. Progress is often slow, and it matters a great deal.

Online sessions

Australia-wide, from home

  • Coach clients by video through one zone at a time
  • Help them make decisions, keep momentum and plan the next step
  • You need a quiet private space, a laptop and reliable internet

In-person support

In selected areas

  • Work hands-on alongside clients in their home
  • Sorting, carrying, bagging and arranging removal
  • Physical work. Dust, odours and sometimes pests. Protective gear provided

Studying?

A strong fit for related courses

If you’re studying psychology, social work, occupational therapy, counselling, nursing, mental health or community services, this work builds real-world experience with people facing complex challenges at home. The hours can fit around your timetable. Anyone is welcome to apply, whether you’re studying or not.

Who thrives here

  • Calm and patient, even when progress is slow
  • Free of judgement. You never call it junk, and you never shame
  • Comfortable in messy, crowded and sometimes dirty spaces
  • Respectful of the client’s decisions, even ones you wouldn’t make
  • Reliable, punctual and discreet
  • Clear and kind in how you speak and write

What you get

  • Training in the Clutter–Hoarding Scale, safe work practices and a trauma-informed approach
  • Flexible hours you choose around study, work or family
  • Shadow sessions with an experienced worker before you work on your own
  • Paid work. Rates are discussed at interview
  • Real experience with one of the hardest challenges people face at home

What you need

  • 18 or over, with the right to work in Australia
  • A national police check (we can help you arrange one)
  • A Working with Children Check for in-person work
