How sessions work in QLD
Sessions are online by video, so they work anywhere in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Townsville, Cairns and regional Queensland. You sort one zone at a time while we guide, help with stuck decisions and keep the session moving. Family can join from anywhere if you want them there.
Time zone. Queensland is on Australian Eastern Standard Time all year, with no daylight saving. From October to April, Queensland is an hour behind Sydney and Melbourne, and we confirm every session in Queensland time.
In-home visits aren’t available in Queensland yet.
Hoarding and squalor in Queensland
In Queensland, councils’ environmental health officers assess complaints about hoarding and squalor under the Public Health Act 2005. Where there is a public health risk, councils may refer the person to support services or issue an order for remedial work.
The QLD Hoarding and Squalor Strategy Group (QLD HandS), facilitated by Q Shelter, brings together people with lived experience, practitioners and government to improve responses across the state.
