1800 DECLUTTER

For families

Worried about someone else’s home?

Most of our requests come from adult children, partners and friends. You can arrange the discovery call and pay for the sessions. The person whose home it is has to know about them and agree.

Why agreement matters

Clearing a home without the person’s say rarely lasts. It often breaks trust, causes real distress, and the clutter returns. Progress holds when the person makes the decisions and sets the pace.

That is why every booking asks you to confirm the person knows about the session. If they are not ready yet, call us. We can talk through how to raise it.

How to raise it

Try

  • Start with safety and comfort: “I worry about you tripping on the stairs.”
  • Talk about one area, not the whole house.
  • Let them choose whether to start, and when.
  • Offer to sit in on the first video session if they want you there.

Avoid

  • Book a surprise visit, or clear things while they are out.
  • Use words like “hoarder”, “junk” or “disgusting”.
  • Threaten consequences to force a yes.
  • Expect one session to fix years of build-up.

When you live far away

Virtual sessions work well when family is interstate. You pay, we run the sessions with your relative by video, and you can join the call if they want you there. We only share session details with you when they agree to it.

Look after yourself too

Supporting someone through this is hard and often lonely. It is fine to step back and let us carry the sessions while you focus on the relationship.
